The Plymouth Public Health/Human Services Department aids in the development of a sound community health program by communicating and cooperating with other community health, social, and welfare agencies. They work to promote and assist individuals and families who have insufficient income and/or assets to meet their essential needs.  Residents experiencing hardship because of temporary unemployment or illness are encouraged to seek assistance by calling the phone number above. Plymouth Public Health/Human Services Department also overs a wide variety of services to residents of all ages, including children's immunizations, blood pressure screenings, podiatry clinics for seniors, B12 injections, Flu shots and more.

The HUSKY Plan offers a full health insurance package for children and teenagers up to age 19, regardless of family income.  HUSKY pays for doctor visits, prescriptions, vision and dental care, and much more. For most families, HUSKY is low-cost or free.  HUSKY is now serving over 241,000 children and teens in Connecticut's working families--keeping kids healthy and helping the family budget.   HUSKY also provides health coverage for parents, relative caregivers and pregnant women, depending on income. Maloney Magnet School is an Interdistrict Magnet School established to serve students from Waterbury and from the three participating districts of Plymouth/Terryville, Thomaston and Wolcott. Students from additional surrounding districts have the opportunity to apply for open seats. Children in pre-kindergarten through grade five enjoy classes in a state-of-the-art facility, conveniently located right next to Interstate 84. Programs and amenities offered at the school include all-day Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, Japanese Language & Culture, Laptop At Home Program for students in grades three, four and five, an excellent science curriculum which makes use of a science lab and greenhouse on the premises, and a multi-cultural Social Studies curriculum. The school also offers a Before-and-After School Program on a limited basis. Technology is infused throughout the curriculums with a state of the art computer lab and classrooms.

The Rotella Magnet School motto "It STARts with the ARTS" is the basis of our academic program. Students learn academic concepts through project-based activities that integrate the fine arts. Through this approach to learning, students and staff collaborate with artists and teachers from a wide variety of community arts and cultural organizations. Admission for all students is based on a lottery system. There is no tuition. Students residing in Waterbury and the participating districts of Wolcott, Thomaston, and Plymouth/Terryville are eligible to apply. Students from other towns may also apply, although bus transportation is not provided and there must be vacant seats in specific grade levels leftover from the participating districts.
