Every Child Ready to Read®: Pre-Reader

"Phonological Awareness for Four- and Five-Year-Olds"

The objectives of the Pre-Reader workshop are to:

  • Introduce the six very important skills parents can teach to children so that they will be ready to learn to read when they begin school.
  • Introduce book sharing between parents and infants at an earlier age than it might otherwise occur.
  • Offer ideas to make book sharing an enjoyable experience so that parent and child will read together more often.
  • Suggest books, rhymes and other resources that are age appropriate.
